But totally turning this perception on its head, models have shown how sᴇxʏ the fabric can be.
On Instagram, scores of influencers have been wearing ʙικιɴιs made out of the jeans material.
And Fashion Nova’s Daisy Denim 2 Piece Sunsuit, which retails at £18, seems to be a popular choice for many.
In recent weeks, Carolina Samani soaked up the sunshine in a double denim two-piece.
The American model, who is based in Jacksonville, Florida, kept her makeup to a natural as she topped up her tan – opting for fluttery eyelashes and ɴuᴅᴇ nail polish.
The retailer shared a picture of Carolina on its Nova Swim page.
More than 500 people liked the post – with many branding the influencer “beautiful” and “divine”.
Carolina isn’t the only fashionista to go wild for the craze.
Loan Love was branded “breathtakingly beautiful” when she struck a pose in double denim swimwear.
She paired the look with smokey eye-makeup and a bouncy blow dry, before catching some rays on a sun bed.
Instagram model Anastazia attracted an equally positive response when she wore the ʙικιɴι.
She posed on some rocks on the coastline of Sydney, Australia.
Anastazia’s followers loved her outfit choice, with 29,200 of them liking the post.
One of her fans responded: “Amazingly gorgeous.”
And another said: “You look beautiful in blue.”
Armarni and Analicia Chaves are other social media stars to rock double denim recently.
The outfit looks stunning – and fans agreed as 22,400 of them responded to her post.
